Welcome fellow Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition players! This time we are sailing the seas, raiding the shores and earning our place in Valhalla with a Viking-themed content update. Seek shelter under the new Scandinavian architecture set, raid and plunder enemy shores with the new Varangian Guard infantry, and revolutionize medieval warfare with the addition of the Mounted Crossbowman regional unit available to 12 existing European civilizations!
The newest DLC, The Viking Sagas, is available now! But changes aren’t only coming from the north! We are charting a course through a boatload of new content, bringing down the hammer on bugs, and making quality of life improvements– including an AI and pathfinding rework!

- New Varangian Guards and Mounted Crossbowmen Regional Units.
- Longboats are renamed Longships and are now available for Vikings, Danes, Saxons and Varangians.
- New architecture set for Danes, Varangians, and Vikings.
- New ship animations, regional wildlife and terrain elements.
- New voice lines for Byzantines.
- Core pathfinding mechanics updates and AI enhancements.
- New Arabian Desert map.
- Improved Multiplayer Lobbies file transfer speeds.
